Career Area of the Week:
How about a POSTAL CLERK? POSTAL CLERKS include a variety of workers such as distribution clerks, mail processors and window clerk. They sort mail and serve customers at local post offices. Distribution clerk and mail processors sort mail for delivery to customers. Window or counter clerks wait on customers at post offices. They sell stamps, money orders, postal stationery, mailing envelopes and boxes. REQUIREMENTS: POSTAL CLERKS must be U.S. Citizens or must have permanent resident-alien status in the United States. They must be at least 18 years old (or 16, if they have a high school diploma). Applicants must take a written examination that measures speed and accuracy at checking names and numbers and the ability to remember mail distribution procedures.

The Wichita State Athletic Department and Shocker Volleyball would like to invite all USD 259 staff, teachers, students and their guests to attend USD 259 night at the Shocker Volleyball game vs. Missouri State on Friday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at Charles Koch Arena. ASP will sponsor a sewing class on October 12th. Bring your own clothes and be prepared to lean functional sewing (buttons, hemming, and patches). We will also provide decorative items to sew on any clothes you provide. Come and have fun while learning a life skill.

Our 2nd Annual Winter Ball in quickly approaching! So, mark your calendars… Friday, December 18th, from 6:00-8:00 in the Gym. You must have an ID to enter and you cannot be on the D & F list! So, get them grades up and don’t miss out on this unforgettable event! More details to come…

Attention 8th grade students: Do you have school spirit? Are you interested in getting some cheerleading experience before going to high school? We are putting together a team to perform a cheer and chant at the next pep rally. Talk to Mrs. Strand or Mrs. Schuster for details before Friday, October 9th if you are interested in joining! ~ Mrs. Schuster

Leave a positive mark on PV; buy flower bulbs to plant around the grounds. Bulbs are $1.00 each and will be on sale before and after school Monday thru Friday. The bulbs will be delivered to your mentor teacher. The mentor class who buys the most bulbs will win a pizza party in the fall and the mentor class with the “prettiest” garden will win a pizza party in the spring.

The first STUCO Dance is tonight! We will have the DJ from Another Dimension Entertainment. You know the one who gave way glow in the dark necklaces?! The cost is $3.00 to get in and there will also be a costume contest. But, don’t forget about the D & F list—3 D’s or one F and you cannot attend and enjoy the party. Get those grades up and dance your little heart out on Friday, October 9th from 6:00-8:00. ~Mrs. Plotner
