Career Area of the Week:
How about a REPORTER/JOURNALIST? REPORTERS/JOURNALISTS gather information and prepare reports of news locally and from all over the world. They write news on foreign affairs, war, accidents, politics, celebrities and many other subjects. They investigate leads, observe events at the scene and interview people. They take notes and may take photos or shoot videos. Employers prefer to hire REPORTERS/JOURNALISTS with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Experience on school newspapers or broadcasting stations and internships with news companies is a plus.
Don’t forget to donate to Pennies for Peace- Tomorrow will be the last day to donate to help educators’ students in other parts of the world.
PVMS will be having a bake sale on Friday, January 29th at 3:10 in the front lobby by the cafeteria.

North High will be in the library and Heights will be in Mrs. Berlin’s room. You will discuss possible elective choices with the high school counselors and complete the enrollment form. You may be asked to take the forms home and return them the next day with a parent/guardian signature. Heights and North will then return on Thursday, February 4th and will be stationed in the library to pick up forms and answer questions.

Remember to look for your teacher’s Pennies for Peace donation box. This money will go to help build schools and buy supplies for children who don’t have the same opportunities as we do in this country. The mentoring class who collects the most will receive a pizza party. ~Plotner
The weather is warming up (for now) and we will be going outside everyday unless it is raining or snowing. Please be prepared to go outside even if it is cold.
Come and support your PVMS boys and girls basketball teams on Monday, January 25th when they play Truesdell. The cost is only $1. Remember you cannot be on the D/F list and you must have your student ID.

Career Area of the Week:
How about a LEGAL SECRETARY? LEGAL SECRETARIES perform specialized clerical and administrative duties to assist lawyers in their work. They also ensure efficient operation of the law office and coordinate office activities. Their work requires knowledge of legal terminology, forms and procedures and knowledge of computers and case management. Secretaries may review law journals and assist with legal research.
Most employers require LEGAL SECRETARIES to have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs. The skills a legal secretary will need can be acquired through formal training from high school vocational education programs, business schools, or one to two-year programs in vocational-technical institutes and community colleges.
There will be no school Monday, January 18th due to Martin Luther King, Jr birthday observance AND Tuesday, January 19th due to a District in-service day. Enjoy your 4 day weekend! See you Wednesday, January 20th.

Almost all pufferfish (or blowfish) contain tetrodotoxin, a substance that makes them bad tasting and often lethal to other fish. For humans, tetrodotoxin is deadly. There is enough toxin in one pufferfish to kill 30 adult humans, and there is no known antidote.

They also ensure efficient operation of the law office and coordinate office activities. Their work requires knowledge of legal terminology, forms and procedures and knowledge of computers and case management. Secretaries may review law journals and assist with legal research.
Most employers require LEGAL SECRETARIES to have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs. The skills a legal secretary will need can be acquired through formal training from high school vocational education programs, business schools, or one to two-year programs in vocational-technical institutes and community colleges.

Recently in Hawaii, a drilling crew accidentally became the first humans known to have drilled into magma in its natural environment. The find was made 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) underground during exploratory drilling for geothermal energy.

Fingernails are composed largely of keratin, a hardened protein that is also in skin and hair. As new cells grow under the cuticle, the older cells are pushed out and compacted, taking on the familiar flattened, hardened form of the fingernail.
