Career Area of the Week:
How about a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE? PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES are physically skilled persons who compete in organized, officiated sports events to entertain spectators. They play before a paying live audience to entertain people and also to make a living. Regardless of the sport, PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES must have an immense overall knowledge of the sport they play. Athletes usually begin competing in sports while in elementary or middle school and continue through high school and often college.

You may see their work as part of the monthly Final Friday Art Show tonight at Century II in downtown Wichita. (225 West Douglas) The public reception is from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. this evening, Friday April 30th. You may enter the Century II building on the East side; across from the Library. Lady "bugs" are a group of beetles that are also known as ladybird beetles, or lady beetles. The color on the wing covers can be yellow, orange, or red; some species are entirely black.

The color blue is an appetite suppressant. This may be due to the fact that blue food is a rare occurrence in nature. Our primal nature avoids foods that are poisonous, and when our early ancestors foraged for food, blue, purple, and black were "color warning signs" of potentially lethal food.

Mussels have important functions in aquatic environments. Because they are sensitive to changes in water quality, mussels are important indicators of aquatic ecosystem health. The disappearance of mussels from a river or lake often signals that other aquatic species are in danger.
